Non-Uniform Day Friday 1st June 2012
Oathall’s Student Council have requested we hold a Jubilee themed (red, white and blue) non-uniform day to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. This will be held to raise money for Harambee for Kenya one of the year’s two chosen charities. This is a local charity working to provide shelter and long term aid for the street children of Kenya.
We ask that students make a minimum donation of £2 for the privilege of not wearing uniform. Naturally they are welcome to donate more. We do stress to students that their donation should come from their own funds, nevertheless we do appreciate the contribution parents most often make in this respect. Donations will be collected during morning tutor time on Friday 1st June.
Gold Medal Cycling Success
Year 10 student Ollie Moors was a Gold Medal winner at the School Games this week. Ollie who was part of the South East Cycling team spent three days competing in events at the School Games. Ollie took part in 2 days of road racing and then a final day competing in events held in the new Olympic Velodrome. In the team sprint event Ollie and his fellow team members beat off stiff competition from teams from the North and Wales to take the Gold medal. Just to be selected to perform at this level is a fantastic achievement but to win Gold Medal as well is exceptional.
